Kenny Kane |

Owner, Head Coach

Kenny Kane is a life-long performer and coach who is fueled by improving quality of life for people in principled ways. He bought CrossFit Los Angeles in 2014 with a vision to build a unified coaching team and the business to support it. The business rebranded in 2017 as Oak Park, a nod to the Kenny’s roots in Santa Rosa, CA as well as a symbolic transition to something evergreen. His dream has always been to create an environment where he can be a student and learn entirely new things from the people within it. As the Oak Park coaches and community continue to evolve, that dream becomes more of a reality.

Kenny has an extraordinarily diverse background. He grew up in a family fitness business with a mother in the Swimming Hall of Fame and a father who was an officiant at the Olympics. At 15, he earned his Black Belt and began his coaching career as a martial arts instructor. Kenny attended UC Davis where he played soccer, ran track, and competed in triathlons. He then went on to teach physical education and drama in his hometown while training for the Olympic Trials. A career ending running injury pushed him to shift focus to standup comedy and private training. Kenny spent 14 years splitting time between training clients and touring the world. He performed standup and gave motivational talks while simultaneously transforming people as a coach. Kenny retired from performing in 2013 to do what he loves. He now dedicates all of his professional time to coaching and the business endeavors that support it.

Jay Bernardo |

Coach

Coach Jay got his start in Coaching in 2014 at CrossFit 808 on Hawaii's island of Oahu. Growing up playing multiple sports like football, wrestling, baseball, track, and lacrosse, he fell in love with strength & conditioning for what it could provide for him as an athlete. It was his experience as a collegiate football player that led him to coaching.

Coach Jay believes that fitness is a metaphor for life and that the gym is a place where Science and the Spirit meet. “The goal is to always meet people where they’re at and guide them down a path of having a healthy relationship with themselves and their fitness. There’s so many lessons that fitness can provide. I truly believe in honoring the individual and their respective journeys.”

No matter the goal, Coach Jay has a broad knowledge and experience guiding individuals to their health and performance goals. He’s worked with competitive fitness athletes, Olympic weightlifters, military and first responders, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, architects, court interpreters, engineers and many other professionals.

Kylie Tullipan |

Coach

Coach Kylie is a seasoned performance coach, certified StrongFirst and CrossFit Instructor, and a qualified Neuromotive coach with multiple degrees in Sports Marketing, Languages, Events, and Business. She empowers her students to reach and exceed their goals through a combination of strength training, mobility, breath, and mental discipline. She embodies the philosophy “strong in the gym, strong in life.”

While Kylie loved movement and sports as a child, her adult professional life began with a less active and more traditional path: working in a high-stress corporate job. As that role began to take a toll on her, she started to explore movement and experienced how movement and strength training could bring her an unprecedented sense of calm. Kylie quickly realized that re-engaging with movement ignited a fire that made her feel alive. This discovery put her life on an entirely new course. She left the corporate world in Sydney, Australia in 2013 for Los Angeles and began her career in the fitness industry. At the start of her fitness journey, she trained for triathlons and suffered multiple injuries, which led her to explore CrossFit, Strongman, and finally, Russian Kettlebell training. Kylie fell in love with Kettlebells from her first swing and fell deeper with every repetition. She has been working with kettlebells for many years and is still learning and challenging her body ways she had never thought possible.

Kylie teaches athletes, moms, dads, teens, and individuals on the autism spectrum. She also mentors and prepares students for SFG Certifications. Kylie’s students work hard both in and out of the gym as they overcome challenges in all areas of life. In addition, she trains her students to develop the confidence to train themselves.
